Alice T. Worrell sues James B. Worrell for divorce in Harrison Township alleging decades of brutal assaults with fists sticks and other weapons. She cites repeated injuries to herself and her children and seeks custody restraining orders and division of property. A temporary restraining order was issued.
In Crawfordsville Indiana on February 22 Howard Maxwell wrestled with his dead foxhound to free his hand. The dog suddenly bit and held on his hand until it died. A physician reported hydro symptoms and noted the dog’s head was cut. Dr J N Huety, secretary of the State, stated findings.
The county treasurer warns there will be no grace days for tax payments. May 4 marks the closing of tax payments with cash only, ending past accommodations of accepting receipts in lieu of cash. Delinquent properties will incur penalties as funds must be deposited with county depositories daily.
Clem Long, a car repairer for the Indianapolis & Northwestern Traction Co., died suddenly at his East Walnut street home after a hearty supper. Heart trouble caused his death at about 7:30 pm. He was about 45, survived by wife and three children, moved from Fayette six years ago, and was respected by employer. Funeral at Mt. Tabor Church near Fayette on Sunday at 11 am with Rev. Erastus Williams.
Joseph Caldwell, inmate at Central Hospital for the Insane, escaped Thursday night and walked from Indianapolis to Zionsville. He rode a freight to Thorntown, walked to his sister’s home near Bowers Station, wearing little clothing but appearing unfazed by exposure. Sheriff Me l Roberta and Officer Larkin Sandlin captured him and returned him to the asylum. He had fled with Christopher Hall, who was nabbed earlier.
Lebanon High School basketball team dominated Franklin College with a 31 to 6 victory last evening. Strong guard play, seven field goals by Little, solid floor work by Sicks and Whitaker, and tight defense overwhelmed the visitors who managed only a single field goal by Nick ers. Next Friday’s opponents undecided.

Wrecked engine and seven cars caused extensive damage. no money was found. crew plans to rob the next train were reported.
John W Caldwell a well known Boone county farmer aged 72 years 10 months 29 days died at 5 20 this morning in Harrison township after four weeks illness. Born March 23 1835 he married Martha J Moore March 2 1856 and leaves children Ira C James A Oliver P M Charles Rachel M Crosstreet Thomas Elizabeth and Robert L Caldwell. He was a member of Milledgeville Methodist Protestant church and a Civil War veteran. Funeral Monday at Milledgeville church at 11 a m with Rev A LeMingwell officiating interment at Old Union Cemetery.
Beulah Revis, two month old daughter of Mr and Mrs A J Revis of Middle Fork, died after swallowing several medicine tablets used by her father for rheumatism. The pills contained strychnine and were treated as candy by the infant, who climbed a shelf to reach the box and died shortly after.
In Indianapolis on February 22, hog prices dropped about 1.56 from yesterday's high. Opening trading was slow as packers watched the trend, then activity rose before weakening. Heavy hogs closed about 20 cents lower. top price for extra good heavies was 4.65, bulk around 4.55. Light hogs ended at 4.50 to 4.55. About 12,500 hogs were on sale. Cattle markets opened easier with generally lower prices across butcher grades. shipping cattle demand existed at lower rates, heavy steers less active, close dull.
In Center township the Watson and Miller factions vied for delegates. The Watson slate won the state delegates with EO. Rogers 169 votes and William Berry 145, while Morris Ritchie and A. W. Cosgrove gained smaller tallies. Four Watson delegates and four Miller alternates were selected for the joint senatorial convention.
Roy C. Swindler married Elva N. Meadows last Friday evening at 5 o clock in the city. Rev. JF A Stover performed the ceremony at the officiant's residence. The groom is the son of James Swindler who lives near Advance. The bride is the daughter of James Meadows of near Jamestown. They plan to reside on the Swindler family farm east of Advance.
The Supreme Court yesterday affirmed a Boone county highway along the Marion county line, ruling the Board of Commissioners had jurisdiction under section 21 of the 1905 Act. The decision upholds the county line road split across two counties.
Friday night basketball saw Thorntown Americans defeat Indiana Law School 23 to 8 in a fast, clean game. Visiting team impressed with gentlemanly conduct. Walnut Grove fell to Advances 5 to 2. Thorntown High meets Lafayette High at Lafayette tonight. Thorntown offers to watch for Lebanon High School next Friday.
The Thorntown Times reports that the old brown horse and the dilapidated buggy used by the late Missouri Lucas to reach town on the day of his death by his own hand were not his property but belonged to Randolph Nursery Company of Lafayette. The manager wrote Marshal Crose that efforts will be made to reclaim the property Lucas apparently took, as the entire outfit would not be worth the trouble.
The Right Rev. Henry Yates Satterlee D D longtime Episcopal bishop of Washington died at his home in Washington today at age sixty five. He led the diocese for twelve years and was a prominent church figure. The notice confirms his death on February 22.
State Tax Commissioner John C. Wingate spoke to Boone county assessors in the court room about enforcing the tax law. He urged better collection of delinquent taxes, explained assessor duties, and noted pay and oath requirements while thanking local officials and the press for aid in equal taxation efforts.
Members of the Ladies Afetis noon group entertained their husbands and friends Friday night at Mr and Mrs Elbert Perkins home. A two course lunch was served and prizes awarded in cards with Wallace Morris and Hoover Mahan winning top prizes. Out-of-town guests included Mr Coffid and Miss Mayone Reynolds of Indianapolis.
