Five Youths Admit Theft At Morelocks

A group of five youths aged 12 and 13 admitted thefts of $30.60 from Morelock Dairy and church break-ins. They were referred to the Boone County probation officer and ordered to appear in Juvenile Court. Inquiries tied to two Indianapolis suspects were cleared. one fugitive from Pendleton reform school and a bank-robbery suspect in France were named. The youths said they used the funds to buy toys and items including cap pistols and hand mufflers.

Ex God Loses Civilian Fight in Indiana Robbery Case

Ex sailor James Newsom, 39, Charlestown, wounded in a gun battle with police and struck with a bottle by a teenage girl during an attempted holdup, was jailed on armed robbery charges. He also faced auto theft charges in Louisville as officers pursued him after a car theft from a Louisville salesman. Newsom was treated for hip injuries after a running gun battle and glass window incident.

Adult Recreation Program at Lebanon Boys' Club Play Center

Starting January 1 the Lebanon Boys Club will run an adult recreation program for men. Sessions are Monday and Wednesday from 9 to 11 PM and include basketball volleyball weightlifting and exercise equipment. Membership is 10 dollars per person from January 1 to June. Auto Plates Ready Jan. 2 1964

Auto license plates for 1964 go on sale January 2. They must be on all cars used on public highways by midnight February 29, 196 1. By law plates must be purchased in the owner’s county per Boone County license branch manager Paul McGinley. If 1964 plate purchases lack vehicle description, bring 1963 registrations or car titles to the branch. A 1963 fall personal property and poll tax receipt showing all taxes paid must be presented and signed by the county treasurer. Those with reserved special numbers must bring registration forms to the branch before January 2, 1964 or numbers cannot be reserved.

Prairie Creek Trial Closes N Agreement

The three day Prairie Creek dredging condemnation case in Circuit Court ended with a reported out of court compromise. Harold Clemens and Lester Beck may have an agreement to allow a personal bridge and prevent a take of Beck land, with Leonard Hawk also likely to be compensated. The court will issue a decision on Lee Seale's suit, with possible appeals delaying final results. If no appeal is filed within 30 days, bids on the $300000 project could be sought for early spring work.

County grand jury urges road survey and home repairs

The Boone County Grand Jury urged county commissioners to survey all roads with emphasis on bus routes after an overturned 60 passenger school bus in Union Township.
