Two Trainmen Die in Railroad Wreck Near Quantico
Quantico Va Dec 6 Two trainmen were killed instantly when a Richmond Fredericksburg and Potomac passenger engine collided head on with an overturned freight engine at Cherry Hill four miles north of Quantico. The impact hurled the locomotives into a creek and the cab trapped the men.

Decatur, Ala Dec 6 for the eighth time in three trials since 1931 the Scottsboro case yielded a verdict of guilty with the death penalty. Ball president Dr. John D. Coons vice president and Dr. E A Rainey secretary. The group plans to join parents teachers nurses and public health officials in a campaign to immunize school and pre school children against diphtheria, a disease claiming many Indiana lives annually. The Indiana Health Council outlined preliminary campaign plans with numerous supporting groups including the Indiana Congress of Parents and Teachers the American Legion the Indiana State Nurses Association and more. The president declared no child in Indiana should contract diphtheria.

Indianapolis Indiana December 6 Governor Paul V McNutt commuted the death sentence of James Anderson of Hazel Patch Kentucky to life imprisonment for the killing of Dearborn County Sheriff Herman Lange On December 30 1929 Anderson faced execution in the electric chair at Michigan City He was convicted by the Franklin County Circuit Court at Brookville and failed in his appeal to the Indiana Supreme Court.
