Committees rushed final plans for Monday opening of an agricultural short course and county corn show in Boone County. The Monday morning session moves to Lebanon High School gym to accommodate school children, with free bus transportation offered.
Mrs Randitt will be the principal speaker at all women’s sessions of the agricultural short course here on Monday and Tuesday. She has fifteen years of experience in home and school work under agricultural colleges and state departments of agriculture. She will discuss poultry health home conveniences rural welfare work and other topics.
Lebanon Rotarians turned a Friday noon luncheon into a study session on Rotary International aims and objects. President Russell George led business, then four talks covered vocational, club service, community service, and international relations.
Mrs Susan Nah Doyle widow of Civil War veteran William G Doyle died after a three week illness from pneumonia at 12:15 PM at her home 1139 South Rast Street. Funeral from Walnut Street Baptist Church Monday at 1:30 PM with Rev D C Coy officiating. Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery. Born in Bartholomew County she was daughter of George and Elizabeth Bozell. She married William G Doyle of Columbus about sixty years ago. he died March 7, 1928. (Continued on Page Five)
The Lebanon Welfare League met Friday to chart ongoing relief for needy families. Officials said aid will hinge on men and boys in the households agreeing to cut wood, with many demands and calls this year double those in the past. The group has delivered coal, food, and clothing.
Six Indianapolis policemen and two alleged bootleggers were found guilty by a federal jury of conspiracy to violate national liquor acts. Jurors convicted Sergeant Joseph Everson and Patrolmen Claude Ridenhadgh Ralph Lambert David J Curran Thomas Gray Martin O'Brien John Price and Cecil McDaniels. Maximum penalty for the officers is two years in prison and a $10000 fine. sentencing set for December 20.
Chief Electrician's Mate J G Hamilton of the V 6 writes about life aboard the V 5 submarine after its new deep sea diving record of 32 feet and its upcoming join to the Pacific fleet. The large steel hull 871 feet long and 33 feet wide houses 88 men with bunks, lockers, and an electric radio with two loudspeakers to keep up morale during overhaul and operations.
The Corinthian Boys Class of the Presbyterian Church will host its annual Christmas supper on Sunday evening December 28. The event is planned for the dining room of the church.

Helen Hamilton, 19, released in Chicago after bandits posing as Capone men seized her in Stockwell Indiana during an attempted robbery of the Stockwell State Bank. Her father is cashier. The gang tied the Hamiltons with belts and stockings and fled with Helen after a sister fled to summon help. Police confirmed the tale and linked the robbers to a prior Frankfort Bank heist.
The Appropriations Committee continues work on a $150 million unemployment relief bill while the Agriculture Committee proceeds with a $25 million seed loan bill aimed at drought-stricken farmers.

He noted reduced corn production aided some farm prices while overall exports for 1930 were the lowest since 1916, with cotton exports down significantly.
