UPI reports Colonel James K. Chenault, 45, former chief of the U S military mission in Caracas, was released eight days after being kidnapped by the pro Castro FALN terrorist group. He was found unharmed, questioned by investigators, and due to report to the U S ambassador. The timing coincided with the capture of Lt Col Juan de Dios Moncada, whose link to the release was unclear.

Anderson 21 fell asleep at the wheel, rear ending Nevitt’s 1960 Studebaker station wagon. Anderson cited for reckless driving, fined $22.75. Nevitt taken to Witham for neck and back X rays.
