Boone County Board of Zoning Appeals denied a petition to establish a trap shooting club southwest of Zionsville after protests by more than 40 residents. John Coghill represented the Eagles Gun Club with views the site would serve American Legion and Masonic Lodge members. Opponents said safety distances of 500 feet by 900 feet were insufficient and the club would hurt property values. 60 names appeared on the petitions against the project. In other business, a trailer house for Rev. Alvin Benson near Riley Road was approved, Roy Vickering’s home near Hazelrigg got a 900 sq ft item, Carolyn Sue Smith’s trailer near Elizaville was renewed for two years, and Edna Richwine in Perry Township secured an approval for a 1200 sq ft area emergency use.
