Wealthy oil operator visits Lebanon creates lively chatter

Liquor Runners Found Murdered Near Chicago
Chicago aug 28 a bootleggers war is blamed for the murder of Irving Schleig and Harry Berman known as liquor runners. Both men were shot through the head and found on a road northwest of the city. Schleig had been flying regular trips between here and Canada to smuggle liquor. His plane was forced down at Muskegon Michigan this summer but he escaped prosecution by breaking all the contraband bottles before authorities arrived.

Lifeless Body of Emery Graves Found by His Son
Emery M. Graves a 61 year old Boone county farmer and former Jackson township trustee was found dead by hanging in a sugar camp near his home four and a half miles southwest of Advance. His son Bommett and grandson found the body as they hunted. Authorities ruled death a suicide due to strangulation after he stood on a block and leaped. Funeral services were set for Saturday.

Carl Herring of Brownsburg was fined 250 dollars and costs and sentenced to 90 days at the Indiana State Farm for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence and 10 dollars and costs on a drunkenness charge. Arrested on the National road west of Indianapolis Monday night by Motor Policemen Losey and Bridges. Judge pro tem Fred McAllister presided in city court.
