Indianapolis Aug 12 The state tax board issued final orders on real estate and personal property assessments in 22 counties after equalization hearings. Eleven counties accepted the original orders and eleven rejected them. Several counties received revisions per boards of review, including Lake where the 10 percent land increase was removed on farm land but remains on improvements.

Youths face charges in vehicle taking case

Clarence Peterson died at 7 p m Saturday at St Elizabeth hospital Lafayette after long illness with tuberculosis. The body went to the home of his half brother Chauncey Hamilton in Darlington Sunday evening for funeral services held Monday. He lived in Darlington for many years with many relatives and friends. Dairy Barn Fire Draws Crowd Near Lebi anon
A modern dairy barn on William Jones farm one mile east of Lebi anon near Ratsburg road burned last night causing about 3000 dollars in damage, half covered by insurance. Automobiles lined the roads as crowds watched a bright glow lighting the sky, with alarms sent in from residents fearing spreading flames and a near four mile view of the blaze from the city. The barn housed four sows, two bulls, dairy feed, corn, and farm implements. stock was driven out and several items saved. The fire began around 9 pm, spread rapidly through hayloft, and the structure measuring 38 by 40 feet was set alight despite chemicals sent to the farm for defense. The building was insured with Farmers Cooperative Assurance Company.
