In a special session the Lebanon city school board let contracts for coal for three grade schools and two high schools. Twelve cars will be used this winter. Beckville General Store Destroyed by Lightning Fire
Lightning struck Silas Johnson's Beckville general store Sunday at 3 30 PM starting a fire that leveled the building. Some stock removed but damaged by smoke and water. the village store near Linnsburg in Montgomery county had little insurance. Traction line disruption followed as a lightning bolt shattered a power pole between Linnsburg and Jamestown, damaging 22 insulators and halting service for over twenty minutes amid hail rain and wind.

Mrs Tillotson Improves After Ill Health
A letter from Rev Demetrius Tillotson describes Mrs Tillotson’s months of illness with eight weeks in hospital and seven weeks under nursing care. Her heart strength slowly improves and she now goes riding daily. Rev Tillotson, head of the new Presbyterian Hospital of Colorado in Denver, says the hospital is progressing and may open later this year. He and Mrs Tillotson are well known in Lebanon, where he formerly preached at the Methodist Church.

State Tax Levy Reduction For 1926 Promised
Indianapolis. August 11. John W. Brown, chairman of the state tax board, said a substantial reduction in the 1926 state tax levy is likely as the board reviews protests on equalization of real and personal property. The present levy is 28 cents, with a goal of 25 cents next year, and an expected $150 million drop in valuation alongside the levy cut. Brown cited a 11 percent drop in farm land assessments and noted interurban and utility property adjustments amid broader reassessments in fifty-one counties. Protests and second orders will be mailed Thursday. other action and deadlines set for claims of discrimination.

Youths abandon auto after theft near church camp
