Fire at Shannondale barn destroys stock and crops
A Sunday night fire consumed M. S. McAllister’s barn west of Shannondale Presbyterian church killing a horse and injuring another that had to be euthanized. Two horses, four hogs, 500 bushels of corn, a wagon and harness burned. The origin is unknown. Bucket brigades saved an adjacent building. one other near-miss building was spared. Loss estimated at 1200 dollars with 400 dollars insured.

Fourth of July Fireworks Planned by Local Laundry Owner

Eight Injured In Chicago Wreck With Fatal Tie To Front Car
Eight people seriously injured and three believed fatally hurt when a south bound elevated train motor car jumped the track at Indiana Avenue station. The car toppled into a Prairie Avenue yard, sending passengers sprawling and triggering panic.
