Middletown Couple Linked to Flower Club and Death

Members of the Lebanon County Flower Club helped at Wernersville State Hospital with Pastime Fragrance Flower Club activities. Five members received corsages for birthday anniversaries as forty patients were served. A Middletown couple, Harry Dan ley 42 and Helen Dan ley 38, were found dead in their car in the garage, carbon monoxide poisoning tentatively blamed by Dauphin County Coroner Dr. Thomas J. Fritchey. they had been dead since Monday morning and were discovered Wednesday by a relative.

Elizabeth Brown dies in Good Samaritan Hospital

Mrs. Elizabeth Brown 92 of 159 North Tenth Street died Wednesday night after a two day illness at Good Samaritan Hospital. Daughter of Elijah and Mary Parsons and widow of Benjamin Brown she was a member of Salem Lutheran Church. Burial details not provided.

Day Of Remembrance Observed In Spring Creek Church

In Hershey on Sunday the Day of Remembrance honored older adults at Spring Creek Church of the Brethren. The Rev. J Herbert Miller led the service with the Rev. Harper M Snavely delivering a sermon on Anxiety or Contentment. A dinner in the fellowship hall followed for fifty seniors served by War Work group. Floral tributes were given at several local churches including Church of the Redeemer and First EUB.

Fredericksburg Man Named To State Post

Harvey W. Gehr of Fredericksburg is appointed chief equipment engineer for the State Department of Highways. He starts June 13 at a salary of 9923 and returns to a post he previously held. A registered professional engineer and Ohio Northern graduate, Gehr joined the department in 1922 and served from rod man to chief equipment engineer. He is a World War II veteran and a former Army lieutenant colonel.

Janet Houston Earns Master’s Degree from Columbia University

Miss Janet Houston received her master's degree Tuesday from the Columbia University School of Social Work in New York City. Flag Day Parade Discontinued After 62 Years

The 62 year old Flag Day parade was discontinued amid invited band changes and scheduling conflicts. Lebanon County parade plans cited band availability and summer recruiting issues, with Palmyra and Myerstown bands discussed. Last year drew 5000 spectators. June 15 ceremonies will feature Adjutant General Maj. Gen. Thomas R. White Jr and an invocation by Rev. Melvin E. Patrick with Rabbi Jerome Lipsitz offering the benediction.

June Nine girls of the Tasty Snacks group met Douglas Snyder twelve with a knee laceration after a bicycle fall. Brownie Troop 410 of Lebanon wrapped up its season with a Tuesday night picnic at St. James Lutheran Church attended by 32 girls.
