J P Huffman 61 a former Lebanon business leader and Jackson township trustee died in Indianapolis last night from wood alcohol poisoning. The wholesale lumber dealer had moved to Indianapolis ten years ago after a career in Lebanon Boone county and Rushville Greenfield. Coroner ruled self inflicted death amid illness and business troubles. family says poison taken by mistake.

Huertistas Charge Villa Officers With Mass Shootings

Huertistas at Niagara Falls accuse Villa loyalists of ordering 25 executions and jailing women in Juarez. Moose Club Rooms Raided by Police for Liquor Confiscation

Prosecutor Dodson and officers Ellis and Evans raided the Fred Purnell Moose Club home this morning. They seized 14 cases of beer with 34 dozen five bottles, plus a tax receipt and a tin box of checks. Officials said liquor possession suggests tax payment as prima facie evidence of illegal sale. Nominee at Kokomo Wins First Ballot for Congress

At Kokomo this afternoon the Republican precincts nominated Fred Purnell of Attica for congressman on the first ballot with 1511⁄2 votes to 1161⁄2 for James F. Statesman. Willham Robison of Frankfort was named permanent chairman. Hon. A. M. Hall spoke as the convention opened, delegates arrived by auto and train, and Kokomo hosted a large, enthusiastic Republican gathering. Delegates from Boone County and other townships convened, with W. A. Roach of Delphi presiding, and reports from committees followed by speeches for state offices.

Fourth band concert of 1914 season crowds fill streets

Last night the fourth band concert of the 1914 season was held at the corner of Lebanon and South streets. Automobiles lined the streets for hundreds of feet in both directions as a cool evening failed to dampen the large crowd that packed the area.

Clinton county Progressives plan a Saturday convention at the Blinn theatre in Frankfort with Hon. B. B. Shively as principal speaker. After speeches a full county ticket will be nominated and several candidates are expected for each office.

Ransdell Buchanan Wedding Last Night in Culver Indiana

A home wedding for Miss Mabel Ransdell and Harold G. Buchanan took place at Mrs. Isabelle Ransdell’s house with Rev. A L Ward officiating. The ceremony featured an fern altar, ribbon bearers, best man Ebon Lavant, bridesmaid Ruth Masters, and a double ring service. Guests from multiple towns attended. the couple will reside in Culver and be at home to friends after July first.

Homecoming at Providence Church With Speeches

Night Prowler Scare Demonstrates New Police Box

Elmer Brenton reported a prowler at 517 N Meridian street and the new police signal box enabled a two minute dispatch. A girl employee spotted the crouching man near Chicago and Meridian and Brenton watched him for half an hour before alerting police. Officers pursued but the prowler escaped into the darkness. description matches a suspect from last week’s northern city incidents. Also, at Farmers State bank, about 3 30 pm, Mr Wm Russell Curnutt and Miss Lelia Fay Stultz wed, groom son of Miles N Curnott, bride daughter of John Stultz, in Big Springs area.
