The Herald office closes at 10 tonight to decide the gold watch winner and end the 150000 extra vote offer. People in the office may vote and renew subscriptions for the bonus, while after tonight regular voting resumes with lower counts. The campaign hinges on tonight's final subscriptions as rivals push their final push.
President Wilson delivered his annual message in person to a joint session marking the opening of the final regular winter session. The public showed high interest though access was limited to lawmakers and their guests. Families of lawmakers filled the audience while others watched from outside as he left for the White House. Mrs Harmon Bradshaw and her children will arrive Thursday for the holidays.
Lafayette Indiana December 7 Judge Richard P DeHart retires after more than fifty years practicing law in Tippecanoe and surrounding counties. J Lyon Caldwell succeeds him as circuit court judge. DeHart twice elected to the post and never had a reversal. prior to the Civil War he served two terms as prosecutor for a six county circuit and retired as brigadier general.
Jack Swope pleaded guilty in Police Court to assaulting Miss Muabel Carter, a 16 year old, near Market and Tioli Streets after an incident Sunday. He claimed no fixed home and was fined administered costs.
Advance notices at railroad offices announce the quadrennial weighing of mails for rate fixing. Weighing to begin January 1 after heavy mail traffic and run for 300 to 105 work days. Debate over space versus carmile basis and fairness for government and railroads continues.
The fifteen days special meetings led by Rev Frank Halk Wright and assisted by Walter Good began Sunday at the Presbyterian church to a crowded audience. The Methodist and Presbyterian churches jointly host the revival with strong interest and optimism for success.

The Boone Savings and Loan, Home Mutual Loan and Savings merge with the First Rural Loan and Savings to expand operation. Harvey P. New will serve as secretary treasurer of the merged firm, now filing articles of incorporation. The new board expands to nine directors from all three unions. The group plans farmProperty lending as a special line with assets around 241,000 dollars and over 4,287 shares represented.
Rholla Emmert was granted a divorce from Mayme Emmert after testimony of his wife’s uncontrollable temper. He alleged threats to kill and frequent quarrels with his mother. The suit originated in Roane County and Emmert lives near New Ross, previously at Advance. Mayme Emmert resides in Lebanon.
The German embassy filed statements with the state department alleging 58 million rounds of buckshot cartridges, described as new style dum-dum bullets, were manufactured by two American firms for British forces in Europe. Photographs and sample cartridges accompanied the charges.
The Highland Coal and Mining company, 612 acres of coal sand near Sullivan, held a Monday night meeting at Governor Ralston's office in Indianapolis. D J Terhune was elected president with W S Ritchie as vice president and S R Artman as secretary treasurer. Lebanon men including Milton C Long and R N Etter attended as stockholders.
Charles M. Spencer of the state auditor’s office completed a two day examination of the Lexington Life Insurance company in Lebanon. He praised the neat books and found the company in excellent condition with a clean bill for officers and directors.
The Colonial Realty Company has been incorporated with a $15000 capitalization. Philip Adler is president, Samuel Storms vice president, and C F S Neal secretary treasurer. The firm takes over the Colonial theater property from the First Rural Loan and Savings association and will manage rentals, with the movie show continuing on site and a new barber shop planned by Charles Miller. The Colonial company holds leases from most renters.
Rome reports Benedict XV acts swiftly to move Pope Leo XIII's body to St. John Lateran and to commission a monument for Pope Pius IX. The Pope, aged sixty, oversees planning with commissions, seeking a fitting site near St Sebastian chapel in St. Peter's.
New Thorntown resident Mrs M S Barker reports a baby boy born Saturday night to Mr and Mrs M S Barker. The family lives one mile west of Thorntown. The birth weighs eight pounds.
The Inter Nos club will meet Wednesday night with Miss Vera Lowman. All members are urged to be present. A grab bag will be held.

Judge W. H. Parr ruled for Walter L. Hunt of New Ross against Edgar Love on Monday. Hunt sought 145 dollars on account claiming Love bears responsibility for the burial expenses of Mrs. Lola B. Palmer, daughter-in-law of Love, whose husband also alleged Love owed the funeral bill. Love denied responsibility.
Indiana's State Highway Commission urged the General Assembly to create a state department of highways with three unpaid members. An appointed state geologist, a governor appointee, and a Purdue University chosen member would oversee a salaried highway engineer at 4000 dollars annually.
