Campaign workers rally for the final day of the 150000 vote offer as subscriptions surge. Ambition and hustle separate front runners from discouraged rivals, with strong emphasis on turning yearly subscriptions into rapid progress toward the prize.
Sheriff B. R. McRoberts and Zora Perkins, 39, departed for Michigan City where Perkins will begin a 2 to 14 year sentence in the state prison Tuesday after entering a guilty plea. The arrest stemmed from actions toward the parents of male children. Dr. T.S. Clayton accompanied the sheriff, claiming a prior jail friendship with McRoberts.
Worley and Fogle insurance agents and realty dealers have purchased the agencies for three insurance companies from Reginald Stewart and will write the business of his companies. They had earlier secured agencies from Hostetter and Gillum and Storms, Williams and Casey. Mrs. M. F. Campbell traveled to Donovan Illinois on Sunday to be with her ill brother-in-law John Hutchinson.
Mulberry friends of Edward Rex report he visited Mulberry this week after leaving the interurban area last April amid a divorce suit alleging cruel treatment. Rex had owned the restaurant next to the interurban station, went to Ohio, married Mayberry, and returned there at Christmas.
The Hoosier Panders plan a third annual poultry exhibition in Thorntown Indiana from December 14 to 19. The three year old association has grown each year and aims to host one of the state’s best quality shows.
A well dressed man posed as a buyer in Kirklin and passed a forged check for 150 to furniture dealer Larry Cast. The fake check bore John Wright of Pickard as signer. Cast received 110 in cash as change for the 44 bill and reported no police. The stranger was a total outsider.

State bank examiner Robert A. Houston visits Houston to inspect the Citizens Loan and Trust Co. His Frankfort home and past as owner of the Frankfort Crescent are noted. Mrs. A A Hoover of Rensselaer Indiana visited Mr and Mrs Harry Ballard on Sunday.
At the Lebanon Lodge memorial observance at the Methodist church special music by a quartet and organ solo by Ruth Perkins accompanied Rev. Robbins sermon on the larger meaning of social life. Exalted Ruler Walter Hodge led ceremonies before the address.
State requests a twenty man special venire for the Wilbur Stevens rape case in circuit court. Stevens is held on a $500 bond. Mrs Mary E Smith of Frankfort died Sunday at her home. She is the mother of Mrs W D Martin of this city. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at two o'clock in Frankfort.
Traction Company offers Lebanon Lodge No. 45 Knights of Pythias a round trip fare of $1.05 from the city to New Ross for the district convention. Central Indiana railway officials have yet to indicate the rates the road will offer.

Dr John T Cowan pastor of First Baptist Attica NY preached two services Sunday He was invited to consider a call to Lebanon NY First Baptist church The pulpit committee and members heard him and plans may move toward a call If accepted he would lead a church of about 200 in a town of 2000 Cowan 28 is Canadian born and married Lightweight. he has strong recommendations from New York Baptist educators.
Thomas Zimmerman underwent an appendicitis operation at Williams hospital this morning. The procedure went well and a full recovery is anticipated. A. R. Parker of Istela New Mexico, Santa Fe railway agent, visited Lebanon today with Clark L. Lindsay of Union Trust. Parker was Lindsay’s assistant when Lindsay was Santa Fe passenger agent at Socorro New Mexico. Istela is noted as an Indian village. Parker is en route to Texas to visit relatives.
United States Weather Bureau reports temperatures for Indianapolis and Lebanon region with daily highs and lows from December 7 1914. Forecast calls for unsettled weather tonight into Tuesday with probable rain and includes sunrise and sunset times.
Mrs. Maggie Good Powell now Mrs. William S. Powell received 5000 cash from an insurance policy and 2300 from the Chicago Burlington and Quincy Railway for the death of her husband Dr W S Powell who was instantly killed when his auto was struck by a train at a crossing near Davenport Iowa. Powell a Lebanon High School graduate and former county schoolteacher had a short time earlier left Ladoga Indiana for Iowa where he built a medical practice. A son was born three weeks after his death.
Lon Cox, a colored former Lebanon barber now in Kansas City, is seriously ill and wishes to return to Lebanon. He left town years ago after reports he faced arrest over a barber shop on South Lebanon Street.
John McCloskey son of George McCloskey and Hazel Imbler daughter of Addison Imbler were married Saturday afternoon in Circuit Clerk Gardner's office by Judge Willet H. Parr. Both residents are listed as Boone county.
George Slattery a shipping clerk of Indianapolis and Miss Ruby Rainbolt a traveling agent were granted a marriage license by Circuit Clerk Gardner.
The Mrs W H Williams Sunday school class of Central Christian Church contributed five dollars to the Herald Christmas Cheer fund raising the total to 36 95 with eighteen days until Christmas. The note urged continued contributions to help the needy in the city before Christmas.
The Tri Kappas sponsor a Christmas dance on Tuesday evening December 29 at Charles Hall. Music will be provided by an Indianapolis orchestra. Mr Samuel Rule and Pansy Rhoades of Indianapolis will perform a fancy dancing exhibition during the event.
Eva Partner and Carlos Robert Houser married Saturday evening at the Bride's parents home 524 Lafayette Avenue officiated by Rev A W Cash First Christian church. Attendants were Letha DeBard and Frank Long. Out of town guests included Eva Johnson of Indianapolis and Harlan Copenhaver of Fowler Indiana.
Mrs W D Garner underwent a finger amputation this afternoon at her West Washington street home for blood poisoning. Dr Ball assisted by Drs Smith and Beck performed the operation.
B F Coombs was in Indianapolis today on business, meeting Herschel Halsell. Mrs Halsell will be remembered in this city as formerly Miss Mary Marvin.
Mrs Minerva Jane Herdrick aged 82 died at her Whitestown home from heart disease after a three week illness. Born April 15 1832 in Buncom County North Carolina she married John H Herdrick in October 1885 in North Carolina. Surviving is son William Henry Hendrick and she was a member of the Whitestown Lutheran Church. Funeral services were held at the residence with Rev C L Wartseler officiating and burial in Lutheran cemetery.
Mrs Herma Beck and Miss Lala Beck issue invitations for a Lavendar Tea at 96 00 Thursday afternoon at the Beck home to honor bride to be Miss Mary Coons this month.
Walter L. Hunt of New Ross sues Edgar Love in circuit court to recover 145 for a casket and vault bought at the death of Lola LB Palmer, daughter of Love. Love contends the husband of the deceased is liable and denies Hunt’s license as an embalmer.
County attorney R W Adney announced a mileage related case affecting sheriffs mileage will be heard in the circuit court here and at Greenfield. The matter involves county officials and procedural proceedings.
