Flushing Ewes Boosts Lamb Yield Say USDA Tests

In six years of work the USDA found that extra feeding at breeding time called flushing increased lamb yield by about 198 more lambs per 1000 ewes for Southdown mothers under the same care. Pasture like bluegrass or mixed grasses works best, with grain rations near drought. Oats or corn oats and bran at half to three quarters pound daily helps.
