Printing innovation lets book go to press without regular press crew

D Appleton & Co of New York produced Piggie by Eleanor Gates using a hand typed workflow during a strike. Pages were hand set on a typewriter, photographed, transferred to zinc plates, and printed on book paper by an art press. The result is a cloth bound volume created without a single pressman. Separately, Marine Aviation offers 50 percent pay boosts and rapid advancement for qualified tradesmen, with recruitment in Wenatchee Washington and details available from the Marine Recruiting Station.
