Quincy Irrigation Project Again Claims Attention
The Quincy irrigation project estimates irrigation of about 435 000 acres at 100 dollars per acre totaling roughly 43 699 000. It spans 36 by 30 miles with land ownership mix of private 85 percent government 6 percent state 7 percent and railroad 2 percent. Officials say federal or state aid is essential and lands could rise from 15–20 dollars to 750–1000 dollars per acre after completion. The scheme uses Wenatchee river surplus water with a dam at Wenatchee lake and a 63 mile main canal on the east Wenatchee Valley to deliver water to the tract.
