Great Northern Electric Power Plants Planned for Tumwater Canyon
The Great Northern Railway filed with the Interior Department for dams on the Wenatchee River and a 100 foot right of way to lay a high voltage line to the Cascade tunnel. Two power plants would yield about eight thousand horsepower to operate trains. Construction could begin within six months with costs near a million dollars and potential new plants boosting the payroll from forty five thousand dollars monthly.
