Legislature Enacts Wide Range of Reforms in Olympia
The fifteenth Washington legislature closes with major laws including a new banking code, a bone dry prohibition measure, an irrigation and mining code, and a state Capitol build plan funded by a half mill levy. It also raises taxes via fixed millage and authorizes county fairs, teachers retirement funds, and a Nautical School in Seattle. Governor Lister signs banking code, deposit guarantee act, and abolishes second choice voting.
