Lumbermen Win Victory in ICc Lumber Rate Cases
Washington DC June 22 The Interstate Commerce Commission ruled favorably for Northwestern lumbermen in five rate cases reducing or removing railroad increases from 1907. The Pacific Coast to eastern routes saw major cuts while Willamette Valley to San Francisco was largely wiped out. The Inland Empire gains relief with a new favorable differential and Portland gateway access opened for western lumber bound for Utah with limits on routes east of the mountains. Rates may be revisited after August 15 1918 if railroads seek further increases.
