Train Robbers Sent to U S Pen for Great Northern Heists

W. W. Lowe and Geo. Hibberlin, recently convicted in a St. Louis federal court for train robbery near St. Louis last winter, were sentenced to Leavenworth for 43 and 15 years respectively. Their past ties to local rail yards and Hillyard robberies tie them to a wider gang case. A separate Great Northern roundhouse fire at Oroville destroyed two engines, with $40,000 loss. The Echo reports on local canker threats to fruit growers and a push to form a Horticultural Society, plus Seattle’s million-dollar fire with fatalities and injuries.
