North Dakota Bonds 17 Million For State Industry Plan
North Dakota under the Nonpartisan League is bonded for 17 million to fund state socialism and industrial ventures. The industrial commission may operate any business with no stated limits, using public funds in state banks to back mills and elevators. The Drake mill purchase and a 5 million blanket mortgage enable state control, while legal battles over bank loans and evidence hinder investigations into league finance.

Taxes in North Dakota Soared Under Single Tax System
North Dakota taxes more than doubled from 1918 to 1919 under the Nonpartisan League single tax plan. Farmers paid at least twice their 1918 taxes, with farm land taxes nearly tripling. The article cites state records and individual farmer examples, notes reduced general fund appropriations, and argues the system shifts tax burden to farmers while blaming state socialism and oil company tax dynamics.
