Seattle seeks safe Fourth amid fireworks curbs and injuries
Seattle lawmakers moved to ban sale of fireworks and explosives but enforcement delays left merchants with stock. Hospitals logged fifteen serious injuries from Fourth of July fireworks, including amputations and burns, as authorities warned future enforcement. Northwest Chautauqua Assembly announced for Whidbey Island July 19 to 31 with Folk and Sunday among headliners, plus rail and tourism boosts for the Pacific Northwest. Washington Equal Suffrage Association campaigns for voter instruction and suffrage amendments while charity and child welfare groups report placements and proposals for oversight. Produce price disputes trigger calls to prosecute the so called produce trust as Seattle prices draw scrutiny.

No Liquor Deliveries for Wenatchee Residents
Wenatchee residents may not receive liquor by freight from Washington towns. Those craving alcohol must travel to a licensed saloon area or bring back up to a gallon of whisky or a beer case as personal baggage, or order from outside the state. County Attorney Fred Kemp says delivery to residences is barred here and Great Northern must stop state-origin liquor shipments to Wenatchee except medicinal consignments. He notes federal law allows outside shipments to local carrier offices.
