Wreck of Fast Mail Near Halford Kills Two
A westbound Great Northern mail train derailed near Halford on the King Snohomish county line. At least two crew members died and two were severely injured, with two stowaway tramps possibly among the dead. The engine derailed at about forty miles per hour, the train tore track, six cars demolished, and traffic halted for twelve hours.

A Great Northern mail train wreck near Halford claimed four lives. A handbag with the name Elton Dutcher was found near a body, though the owner could not be located.
