Leavenworth Fire Rages Through Six Buildings
A Sunday morning blaze in Leavenworth consumed six occupied business buildings causing an estimated loss of 25 000 to 30 000 dollars. The fire started in Adams & Burke Hall with Wenatchee band boys’ event suspected. firefighters faced limited water and no organized protection. John Bjork’s Overland hotel and Plisch & Bliss suffered heavy losses, with no insurance on several properties. The brick Adams & Burke saloon acted as a barrier, allowing some nearby structures to survive. Restoration work began immediately with temporary frame buildings planned and hopes for rapid rebuilding.
