Washington legislature fails to move reform on many fronts
The thirteenth Washington assembly has introduced over 800 bills but few major actions. The Mothers Pension bill passed with 87 votes for and 4 against amid debate on initiative referendum and recall. The alien land bill provoked federal scrutiny and possible veto. debates over county and state levies for highways and health, a domestic relations court, farmer cooperative legislation, and a constitutional convention were noted. Governor Lister vetoed the Cheney Normal school appropriation and eyed economy checks on future levies.
