County Assessor Joe E. Johnson calls a public meeting for 8 p m Wednesday Feb 11 at the old Commercial Club rooms to discuss the new land assessment. He urges taxpayers in every district to attend and help form a committee to gather data for true property values.

James German returned from a trip to Wenatchee and Spokane where he attended a meeting of baseball fans about organizing a four town amateur club league including Leavenworth Wenatchee Waterville and Chelan Chelan pledged willingness to join though not yet represented at the meeting All towns were described as strong baseball towns and organizers expected to attract crowds sufficient to cover expenses.
Pro moter Hyman Harris says Wenatchee Valley power project funds are maturing and Cashmere franchise ordinance, revised, will pass at the next meeting. He expects public details on route after franchise approval.
R. L. Parker leased the Tumwater Hotel for three years and sold the furniture to F. Fugiwara who will operate the property as a rooming house. Parker moved his family to a north of the track building.
Statements of personal taxes from the county treasurer show real estate and personal taxes due Monday February 2 with a 3 percent rebate if paid by March 15. Delinquent real estate taxes after May 21 incur 15 percent penalty. half paid by May 31 leaves remainder due Nov 30 with 15 percent interest. Hugo Kringle traveled to Wenatchee yesterday for business purposes meeting local contacts and handling regional affairs.
At the Tuesday council session Mayor Woldenberg recommended Che McKenzie for chief of police, but the council postponed action to the next meeting. Ordinances cutting Chief Bohnsack and night marshal salaries were not in effect due to lack of majority votes and absences. The meeting also addressed a subway proposal under the Great Northern tracks and city office moves, with limited decisions on water, fire hydrants, and building changes.

He found weights generally fair, with rare overweight issues, and noted no major faults in goods sold. Governor Lister reports advisory from Senator Jones that Congress may act to allow direct election of United States senators, with an extra legislative session unlikely.
