Leavenworth City Schools will open on Tuesday September 7 with enrollment and lesson assignments. Morning sessions continue as usual. afternoon starts 1100 p.m. and ends 845 p.m. A 20 minute assembly period is added for music and art. One fourth unit credit is offered for activities with 90 percent attendance. A full teaching staff is listed including Superintendent A T Sutton and Principal Carl E Curtis among others.
Dr J C McCauley a longtime Ellensburg physician and Republican candidate for joint senator from the 15th district visits Chelan County to rally support. J C Raynor Ellensburg Evening Record editor cites county unity and outlines why Chelan should back a strong Kittitas man over Ferryman.
Mr E M Gillette a Washington booster arrives in Che lan county to campaign for state representative He a former railroader turned farmer owns about 1000 acres grows grain apples raises stock and shorthorns He previously served six years as county commissioner and is part of the State Good Roads Association awaiting Everett meeting to discuss the campaign with voters expected to back him for a square deal.
Frank Wingate, wife and Reed Andrews were seriously injured last Saturday when their car struck rock at the rock cut between Leavenworth and Peshastin. Mrs Wingate suffered broken bones and hospital care, Andrews had a broken rib and weeks of recovery ahead.
In 1911 E M Gillette on the County Commission stood against rail interests to preserve a 16 foot State Road No 10. The Great Northern resisted but Gillette secured rights and the railroad eventually conceded and built part of the road, shaping Entiat’s future along the river.
J. C. Simpson revenue collector at Wenatchee states that the war tax applies to free admissions where the lady in the party enters free. He notes only paid admissions have been taxed so far and both must be collected in the future. Simpson returns from Seattle after helping enforce war taxes statewide.

Rowland Garlock of Seattle, employed by Louie Speidel for the Peshastin Fruit Growers Association, broke his leg Monday afternoon when a rope hoisting shavings failed and a box fell. He was taken to Leavenworth Hospital and will be confined for several weeks. Home is Seattle.
City authorities order officers to arrest drivers whose autos lack proper lights. Autos must have headlights and taillights, and headlights must avoid blinding oncoming drivers. Sheriffs deputies patrol roads to curb this practice and jail time may follow for flagrantly unlit night driving.
Ential Times endorses Sam R Sumner for Chelan County Prosecuting Attorney. He is a veteran lawyer with prior service in the State Legislature and as public prosecutor. Hart on Monday and Tuesday with comic acts to entertain audiences seeking clean, diverting evenings at the play house.
Antone Wittaner a 50 year old single horse teamster for Great Northern Lumber Co at Camp B was killed Tuesday when logs rolled from his load trapping him. He died within an hour before medical help arrived. He had no local relatives. body sent to Leavenworth for burial after remains and pay held by the company until heirs are found.
Chelan County official E. C. Bowersox issues notices to district officers teachers and parents stressing mandatory school attendance for children age eight to fifteen and restrictions on underage employment. penalties include fines up to 25 dollars for violations.
The final registration tallies from Leavenworth city wards and Tumwater precinct total 670. Ward 1 reports 166 voters, Ward 2 174, Ward 3 207, with Tumwater Precinct at 128, indicating expectations of a small turnout were unfounded. An itinerant solicitor joked about demonstrations and adding a lightning rod to an electric churn.

Mrs. Amanda Town and daughter and Mrs. Frank Hennessey drove to Seattle via Blewett Pass and returned with Mrs. Fred Pickette and two children. Pickette, Seattle resident, is Hennessey’s sister and will stay with the Hennesseys and Town for weeks. The party enjoyed a two day auto trip, spending a night at Sunset Lodge on Takeechilelus.
