Washington Advances Land Reclamation Policy and Funding
The 1919 Washington legislature enacted three bills to promote land reclamation and settlement. The Banker reclamation bill creates a state service and a five million dollar revolving fund, with a reclamation board to approve projects. The land settlement bill empowers the board to acquire and improve lands for sale to settlers. A constitutional amendment would authorize land condemnation for reclamation.
