Harm and wife returned home Wednesday morning traveling via St Paul. Miss Grace Benton arrived Wednesday and will stay a few days. Mary Flaherty spent the last of the week in town. Walter Howard, division agent, left for Willmar Friday and spent Thursday in Sioux City before returning to Dalton Friday morning. Mr Warner and family from near Werlfield moved into the section house. Miss Tiernan, the school teacher, is boarding in LeMars this term and walking the distance.

Mrs. Will and Otto Messick of Sioux City spent Sunday with the W. J. Lawrences. Miss Emma Strouse of LeMars visited the We. Frost home. Miss Edith Empsy visited Sioux City with friends. Fred Null of Sioux City at the Espey home on Sunday. Miss Sunate Brands of LeMars visiting friends here. Rev. Chandler to assist Rev. Empsy in meetings this week. Mrs. Bobby Bilsch of LeMars visiting Mr. J. D. Simpson. Mrs. W. C. Peck of LeMars a visitor on Thursday. Messrs. Haylock and Aldrich at LeMars Friday. Mrs. W. A. Julian and son Willie visiting LeMars on Monday.

Supervisor William Pape and Aboot bot of Tinton repaired the Floyd river bridge east of James during the week. Samuel Woolworth and wife were Lords visitors on Thursday evening. Philip Jalch and sons noted as Sioux City callers on Saturday. Woolworth school term began Monday taught by Miss Blanche Haller. Perry Sager and wife were Sioux City callers on Saturday. Bartie Luce of Leeds visited James Sunday afternoon. Joseph Schmocke hauled a car of lumber to James on Monday. Robert Woolworth was a Leeds business caller on Saturday. Jacob Schindler noted as a transsiting business in Sioux City Saturday. Ed Shumate moved to Moville.
Mr and Mrs J G Herman and other Hungerfords visited Yeomans last week. Neighbors hosted a surprise for the McDonald family, who plan to move to Sioux City in a few days. Henry Rusk and Herman Schalpelez have illness notes. Kneebone farm sold to Mr Myers of Buffalo County Dakota. Walston moves into Hubbard's former farm in Sioux City area.

In Tokio March 26 the house of representatives passed a unanimous vote of thanks to Vice Admiral Togo and his officers. M Yamamoto, minister of marine, praised the fleet's work and noted Russian reports of four battleships, five cruisers, and ten destroyers, calling Port Arthur repairs ongoing and urging realistic war hopes. He warned against undue optimism and asserted Japan’s combined military and civilian efforts would lead to victory.
March 26 dispatch reports Russian authorities order ships to anchor five and a half miles from the fort and enter only between 6 am and 6 pm after paper and cargo checks. Merchants protest to keep ships nearer the foreign settlement. Neutrals’ rights tradeoffs raised for greater harbor control.
New York reports an end to months of demoralized eastbound steerage pricing. An agreement among steamship lines sets a new minimum of 28 dollars and maximum of 35 dollars, restoring pre-cut-rate levels effective today. Ballantyne, former customs inspector, is acquitted in Manila of conspiracy charges over non-exempt Chinese entry.
In Jefferson City Missouri on March 23 Judge Graves set court times for Frank Farris and Charles Smith charged with bribery in Rept.6. The defendants face trial in the district court with the case proceeding this September.

In St Louis on March 26 a violent storm triggered a panic in Julius Hamm who sprang up in the house, seized a lit lamp and attempted to strike his wife. Officers intervened, secured a rope, and detained him for transport to the city hospital. The couple has been married for thirty years.
