Quiet Sea-Horse outboard debuts at Le Mars Town
Elmer Athens reports a new Sea-Horse 5 horsepower class outboard as the first truly quiet model. The suspension drive design absorbs sound and vibrations, making waves’ slap audible over the motor. Johnson Motors showcases the 542 horsepower version with speed control and full gear shift, replacing the Sea-Horse 3. The 1954 Sea-Horse LO remains quieter than 1953 due to carburetor silencers. some models allow tool-free removal of a motor hub.
