Christina M. Pecks of 123 1st Street S Le Mars died at Mercy Heart hospital March 25 1954 after two months illness. Born in Holstein Germany to Uttermark family she came to Plymouth County in 1900. She married William H. Pecks in Le Mars in 1905. Survivors include daughter Agnes Kuck and six sons Edmund Donald Abi Bernard Leslie and William all of the area. Funeral services were held March 29 at St Johns American Lutheran Church with burial in Le Mars City Cemetery.
Henry Siege died Saturday at his farm near Maurice Louisiana aged 72 retired farmer. Funeral services at 2 p m Wednesday at St Sohn Lutheran church Reading township with Rev D Heck officiating burial in church cemetery under Mauer funeral home Le Mars. Survived by three daughters Selma Siege Maurice Sidonia Oaken Ireton Ishia Chapman Le Mars two sons Silvester Silas Maurice three sisters and nine relatives. A suit for $50,000 in Woodbury county district court by Irma Ernst of Moville and her husband alleges a September 29 1982 downtown Le Mars assault by Lo H Whittecar. The petition says Whittecar struck Ernst with his fist without provocation knocking her down, causing a skull fracture and permanent injuries. Plaintiffs seek $25,000 actual damages and $25,000 exemplary damages.
A large group of relatives and friends gathered at the Wm. Johnson home on Sunday to celebrate Mr. Johnson's birthday. Afternoon guests included Mr. and Mrs. George Reichel, Mr. and Mrs. Gareith Renk en Sr, and several Johnson family members. Evening attendees included Mr. and Mrs. Herman Brunken, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Borchess, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Johnson, and others.
Mrs Mary Teefy Feeley died in Downs California on Sunday March 28 after leaving Le Mars years ago for the West. The remains will lie in Le Mars Thursday noon with funeral and burial services at Calvary Cemetery at 4 00 p m Reverend Lo LaVelle pastor of St James Church officiating. Survivors include two daughters Mrs F Gasper and Mrs Opal Rendall of California. She was preceded in death by her husband and a son Raymund. Mrs Peete, former Miss Kietler, is visiting relatives in Spirit Lake Iowa this week.
Leona M Pitty sues Melvin C Pitty for separate maintenance and alimony. They married in Dakota City Nebraska on September 24 1946 and separated March 26 19. The couple had two children Judy born April 4 1947 and Tom born December 8 1934. The plaintiff alleges cruelty endangering her life and asks for alimony child support and costs.
Mr and Mrs Lawrence Philips announce the engagement of Mrs Wanda Phillis Berke to Fidon Simonsen son of Mr and Mrs UE Simonsen of Merrill Jawa. The ceremony is set for 8 oclock on June 10 at Trimble Methodist Church. Mrs Reinke is a Central High School graduate and the couple’s fiancé attended a nearby college.
Walter T. Summerhayes of Waterloo Iowa died at home on Wednesday March 24 from heat ailment. Born August 12, 1873 he moved to the county with his parents and settled at Dragfn Jimny Woo. He worked at Headford Hitchens John Deere Foundry and Tractor companies before starting a restaurant in 1927 and retiring in 1949. Survived by Pauline Struboat Menill his wife two sons Donald and J The daughter Mrs Bess Vanlman and 14 grandchildren plus great grandchildren. Local attendees included Mrs Joe Strub and Mrs Steve Stub and others.

Peter Hames 71 longtime Plymouth County resident died suddenly at Sacred Heart hospital while about to visit his critically ill wife. He had been hospitalized eight days after a heart attack and collapsed after taking the elevator to the second floor. Born in Luxembourg Germany June 23 1883 he and Margaret Reisch married February 4 1913 in Le Mars. The couple farmed near here then retired to LeMars and moved to Le Macy in 1938. Survived by two sons a brother and several siblings with nineteen grandchildren. Funeral services set for Wednesday March 8 1934 at St Josephs Catholic church Meager with rosaries and services at the funeral home prior to mass.
Morningside accepted an Eleanor Roosevelt lecture amid reported pressure. Harold EL. Kuthlinen of Kathron Minnesota and Lorraine Kathryn Hamon of Le Mars applied for a marriage license at the Clerk of Court office this past week.
Neil Robertson died March 28 1984 in Santa Monica California at 117 years old. He was born January 6 1867 in Cape Breton Nova Scotia and lived in Plymouth and Woodbury counties before moving to California. He married Minnie Reese and was a merchant in Akron before wartime service. He attended Plymouth Presbyterian church. services were conducted by Rev Miller and Masonry led grave side rites. Surviving are two daughters Kee Montgomery and Chester N. and Ruth N. plus seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Relatives attended from San Antonio Julian Ames and St Lawrence. Also noted is Korea era Army Corporal Richard Hoss recently transferred to the 1st Division in Korea.
A 1950 Ford owned by Mrs. Ann Robinson near Hinton left the road after hitting a soft shoulder in snow at 2 am Sunday, overturning with all five passengers injured. Other incidents include a Dodge near Remsen at 3 pm Friday, and a car on Highway 3 east of Le Mars about 3:15 pm Monday, causing about $400 in damage.
