Fire destroys barn and hogs at Sioua Center farm
A fire Thursday afternoon destroyed a barn about 32 by 24 feet at the Peter G. Moon farm near Sioux Center along with several large hogs and baled hay. Firefighters believe the stove heating the barn caused the blaze before 2 p.m. The Mouw family was away at a farm sale. Sioux Center firemen saved an attached cattle shed with a steel roof. The barn is owned by John Van Maanen and rented to the Mouws.
