Mystery Rifle Shot At Club Deb Neighborhood Stuns Bartenders

A single rifle shot near Jack Kelleher's shack a block from the Debonair club disrupted a neighborhood party. Witnesses Dominick and Holland fled for cover while Officer Sutton, delayed by a passing freight train, questioned Kelleher. A .22 rifle and binoculars were found. no powder smell or empty shell were observed. Kelleher is held for a sanity hearing after a cautious police review. Witnesses include Schuyler Collingwood of Kern Advertising and Alvin Kroepel, who were nearby.

Accidents on County Roads Report Damages and No Fatalities

Multiple crashes near Hinton and Le Mars cause vehicle and equipment damage. A Sioux City woman in a 1949 Chevrolet and Delwin L. Phillip of Yankton are involved in a Sunday 8 a.m. collision on county roads near Lincoln Township Lutheran church. A 28-year-old from Vinton drives a 1950 Ford with a fanning mill on the back when a semi rolls into a ditch on Highway 33 near the sale barn Thursday at 9 a.m. Vernon Urban in a 1954 Chevrolet is rear-ended by a 1953 Chevrolet pickup driven by Earl Stoffel on First Street Southeast at 11:45 a.m. Tuesday. License-examiner visit to Le Mars for renewals Friday and Saturday.

Induction Call Delayed for Plymouth County Boys

Francn DePree, clerk of the local draft board, stated the December 3 draft call for Plymouth county youths is delayed. The boys will report for induction in Sioux Falls after Christmas on December 27, allowing them to be home for Christmas. Names had appeared earlier in The Globe-Post.

Remove Cars From Streets in Downtown Business District

Police issued thirty summons Sunday night to owners who parked on streets after midnight in the business district. Ten more were towed Monday night, four repeats from the previous evening, and four on Tuesday night with more on Wednesday night.
