Two Car Crash Records From South Sioux City And Plymouth Street

On Wednesday December 2 an accident on highway 3 and 4th Ave involved Larry Fiddler in a 1950 Chevrolet with left side damage amounting to 90 dollars and George Peters in a 1950 Chevrolet. both vehicles sustained front and side damage. In a separate Plymouth Street and 3rd Ave collision, Donald Norton driving a 1947 Plymouth collided with Fay Terpenning in a 1952 Chevrolet, Norton’s car suffering front and left side damage while Terpenning’s had a left front and rear fender injury. The Globe-Post notes the incidents.

Mrs C P Koerner Dies In Le Mars Home

Mrs Clarence P Koerner died at her Le Mars home after a year of illness. Born Geneva Ora Hrenhaile July 21 1905 in Hardwick Minnesota she was 48 years 4 months 15 days. She lived in North Dakota and Minnesota before moving to Le Mars in 1944 and married Clarence P Koerner September 24 1932 at Sioux Falls South Dakota. Funeral services Wednesday December 9 at 2:00 PM at the Le Mars funeral home with burial at Remsen Cemetery. Survivors include her husband and daughters Charleen and Carolyn Joyce, her parents and members of several local organizations.

Close Shave for Enoch Swanson Near West Le Mars Bridge

Enoch Swanson escaped serious harm this afternoon after a gas truck he drove lost control when a spindle bolt broke east of West Le Mars. He steered the vehicle back onto the road and halted about 12 inches from the bridge end, narrowly avoiding a plunge into the river.

Verdict Set Aside In Brown Case By Judge

In a district court proceeding in Le Miss before a jury Leonard Brown sued Killers and Wille. The jury had returned a verdict for Brown on November th, 1955. The court on December triday set aside and sealed the verdict citing improper conduct and lack of fair trial. The plaintiff claimed a car sale in Omaha involved a $2800 check that was dishonored and the signer not found.

Three sisters born in Luxemburg and living near Remsen pose in Mrs Anselm Schmelzer home. Lena Scholer 80 Ansel Schmelzer 83 Susan Aborough 6 become a single 254 year figure if joined. The trio born at Bissen Luxembourg moved to Le Mars with parents and farmed near Remsen.

Norfolk Navy discharge of Glenn A Molzen at Norfolk

Glenn A Molzen, son of Mr and Mrs Henry Molzen of Le Mars Iowa, was honorably discharged from the U S Navy at the Norfolk Naval Receiving Station. The station, under Captain John Harllee, processes about 8000 men monthly en route to naval assignments worldwide.

Thirty one farmers from Plymouth County gathered at Menolith Implement Co at 4 00 am on Thursday December 3. They traveled by bus to Waterloo Iowa for a guided tour of the John Deere factory from 8 am to 4 pm with groups of six. Two-Killed In Pequot Lakes Crash Near Hinton

Mrs Bronner died in a Thursday car crash near Hinton while en route to California with a party from Pequot Lakes. Connie Bland, 17, survived with serious injuries and was hospitalized in St. Paul. The wreck occurred on wet pavement near James and involved a car that spun out of control and struck a concrete bridge abutment. Sheriff Frank Scholer investigated. Mrs Bronner’s body was moved to Wiltgen-Luchitke home and later sent to Brainard Minnesota for burial.

Mrs. Minta DeRaad Rites Held in Ireton and Hollandale

Funeral services for Mrs. Minta DeRaad of Hollandale Minnesota were held at the Presbyterian church in Ireton and in Hollandale with Rev. Kenneth A. Dykstra officiating. Music featured a male quartet and organist Joyce Ver Doon, with pallbearers named from relatives and community. Interment at Pleasant Hill Cemetery beside her husband, who died in 1927. Mrs. DeRaad, born May 3 1879 in Benton County, moved with her family to Sioux County. she married Mareen DeRaad in 1899 and had seven daughters and four sons. She was remembered as a loving wife and mother. Also noted is the birth on Friday December 4 to Mr and Mrs Ernest Grenier of Carroll Town of a daughter Joyce Kra mer, former Kathy Kramer.

Fire Siren Was Merely Santa Claus

The Retail Committee in Le Mars announced stores stay open on Wednesday Friday and Saturday evenings this week citing Santa Claus as the reason. A Santa in the Nuckel building planned workshop activities through Wednesday and weekend afternoons and nights until Christmas. Board Keeps Meeting After Lunch On Husmann Case

The board of supervisors, in a secret session after lunch, reaffirmed F. C. Husmann as road maintainer after 24 years in the district. A petition with about 250 names from 28 area farmers supported Husmann, while Noble insisted Husmann was fired. The dispute centered on alleged illegal maintenance practices and personal clashes between Husmann and Noble.
