Individual Winners In Plymouth County 4-H Fair

The Plymouth County 4-H Girls delivered a strong showing with over 600 Home Furnishings entries judged by Mrs. Rachel Huser of Sac City. Senior division winners span portfolios, textiles, frames, bulletin boards, curtains, chair reconditions, and wood finishes with blue red and white awards highlighting numerous names such as Bonnie Frerichs Carol Bowman and Marilyn Miller among others.

Roy Maass of Remsen 4-H won first in the 4-H division at the Iowa State Fair with his Aberdeen Angus heifer. Kingsley Teen Involved In Sioux City Car Crash

Donald Pierce 18 of Kingsley was among six teenagers hospitalized after a two car crash outside Soux City Sunday night. Clifford Parsch 18 also of Kingsley drove one vehicle. he was not hospitalized. Other injured were from Sioux City. four rode in the Kingsley car. Ambulance took the injured to a local hospital.

The 4 H Girls Demonstrations at the County Fair ran two days with club performances and three top placings. Hawarden Saddle Club Wins Sioux Falls Parade Prize

Hawarden Saddle Club won first prize at the Sioux Empire Fair and Rodeo in Sioux Falls Tuesday August 21 with 34 riders in the parade. The club earned $100 and beat 13 other clubs and 600 horses judged on uniformity appearance equipment and formation.

Jones Held on DWI Charge After Le Mars Collision

Floyd Jones of Pender Nebraska released on $1000 bond in Sioux City jail after a car truck crash three miles north of Le Mars at 10 30 p m Wednesday. Dale Owing of Sioux City drove the cattle truck. Jones bound over to the October term grand jury. No injuries. The Jones car was a total loss and the truck sustained 1500 in damage.

Funeral services for Cornelius Ludwig in Remsen

Cornelius Ludwig 82 a retired farmer died Friday at his home of a heart attack. Funeral at St Mary's Catholic church Remsen conducted by Rt Rev Msgr Frank Schultes with burial in the church cemetery. Survived by eight daughters a son four brothers three sisters and a deceased daughter. Born in Luxembourg 1874 he came to the U S in 1892 settled in Dyersville moved to Remsen 1896. Married Mary Peters 1898 and farmed near Remsen until 1928 retirement to town. He was a member of Knights of Columbus and Luxembourg Brotherhood of America.

Mrs Groetken Returns From Chicago Convention

Mrs H F Mayme Groetken returned Saturday from Chicago and Milwaukee where she attended the Democratic National Convention and visited her daughter and family. She met her new grandson born August 21 to the Wylies in Milwaukee and a granddaughter Maureen Ann born the same day to Mr and Mrs John F Deegan in Le Mars. Groetken will travel to San Francisco for the National Legion Convention where she serves as president of the local legion auxiliary.

Akron Man Killed In Skyray Takeoff Crash

Ensign Evan David Matthiesen of Akron and formerly Le Mars died when his F4D Skyray jet failed during takeoff at Oceana Naval Air Base Virginia Beach. A Navy pilot with wings earned earlier this year, he was born June 30, 1938, and is survived by his parents in Le Mars. Funeral set for August 29 at Mauer chapel. Burial in Le Mars Cemetery.

Girl Scout Leader Training Sessions Begin in Le Mars

Girl Scout leader training classes started last Wednesday August 5 at the American Legion Auxiliary rooms in Le Mars with 14 women in the morning session and 16 in the afternoon. Two more all day classes are planned for August 22 and 29. Women may join any remaining sessions to become leaders or assistants this fall or later.
