White Sox hold Cherokee tryout selects Donald Fulton

Donald Fulton a 15 year old pitcher from Le Mars was named one of four best prospects at a Chicago White Sox tryout held in Cherokee. He plays for the Kings Fey and Union teams and was invited to summer training camp with a chance to reach the majors. Old Settlers Reunion At Akron

Plymouth County Old Settlers Reunion will be held in Akron on Thursday August 22. A picnic dinner in the city park is planned for 2 30 p.m. Old Settlers go to the Methodist church for coffee hour at 9 30 a.m. They will vote for the Pioneer King and Queen. Organizers hope for a large turnout.

Martin Johnson 36 of West Point Nebraska died suddenly from a heart attack Sunday. He lived there for several years in the livestock business and was married to Esther Juhle of Le Mars. Infant Schreiner Dies After Birth in Remsen

An infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Roland Schreiner of Remsen died shortly after birth at Sacred Heart hospital. A prayer service by Rev. Father Laurence Schoeppner of St. Catherine's Oyens followed by burial at St. Mary's cemetery was held at Fisch funeral home in Remsen on Wednesday morning.

Longtime Le Mars Resident Roy Harvey Dies at 63

Roy Harvey 63, longtime Le Mars and Merrill resident, died Sunday morning after a three month illness. Born October 4, 1889 near Ireton Iowa, he spent most of his life in the Le Mars area with a period in Washington state. He was a retired stonemason and had lived in Merrill the last two years. He married Susie Holzer in Platteville Wisconsin. she died in 1945. Survivors include two sisters Mrs. Frank Laughlin Le Mars and Mrs. Marie Magill San Francisco, and a brother Ben Ovens Iowa. Funeral at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mauer funeral home with Rev. Lyle Graff officiating. Burial in Union Township cemetery.
