Two Accidents Near Le Mars on Highway 33
Friday morning a loaded truck rolled over on the soft shoulder two miles north of Le Mars on highway 33. Driver Bill Jackson of Oklahoma City reported no injuries. Patrolman Lyle Pell investigated. Thursday noon Russell Vander Brock and Virgil De Vries, both of Orange City, were working with caterpillar tractors east of Alton when De Vries allegedly hit a tree, injuring him with ambulance transport to Grosseman hospital. his morning condition was listed as fair. Vander Brock and family recently moved to Orange City to work with Ready Mix. Mr and Mrs Herbert Straks and family of Sheldon visited Le Mars friends Sunday.

Mrs Jim Herwyer, Sioux Center resident, dies at 67
Mrs Jim Herwyer 67 died Friday evening at her sister’s home in Teton after a heart attack while visiting family. Born in the Netherlands she and her husband farmed near Sioux Center, retired to Sioux Center four years ago due to his health, he died about 18 months earlier. Funeral Tuesday at Bethel Christian Reformed Church Sioux Center with interment in nearby cemetery. Survivors: four daughters three sons, sisters and brothers, and 20 grandchildren.

Mrs Mary Miles Funeral Services Held in Sioux City
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Miles 80 of Sioux City were held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Nelson Berger Funeral Home Morning Side with Rev. Karl Pfaff officiating. Burial followed at Graceland Park Cemetery. Born December 30, 1876 in Moravia Czechoslovakia she came to the United States and married John W. Miles August 25, 1914 in Le Mars. He died in 1947. They ran a grocery store and restaurant in Sioux City. She retired in 1949. Surviving are daughter Mary Ellen Cook and son Charles W. Miles both of Sioux City two brothers Frank Stasiny Merrill Iona and Charles Stasiny of Sioux City and four grandchildren.

Accident near Floyd River Bridge causes loss of control
On Thursday April 25 at 7 00 pm Kenneth Wills of route 5 Le Mars drove north on highway 75 when the car failed to control and struck the south end of the Floyd River Bridge blowing a tire. The mayor's report says the driver momentarily blacked out. The tire blew as the car traveled 90 feet then hit the bridge north end and spun to face south. Front end damage was not estimated.
