Bernice Laux Will a longtime Franklin elementary first grade teacher in Le Mars retires after 42 years in the district. She began in 1911 at Clack then Central and finally Franklin teaching generations of students. Superintendent Kluckhohn praises her modern teaching and enduring spirit.
Pfc Manuel E Schulz son of Mr and Mrs Le Ros Schulz of 407 6th Ave SE Le Mars has served in the Marine Corps for nearly a year. He trained at San Diego Oceanside and Camp Pendleton before going overseas in February 1953. He is currently in Korea with the USMCH 3-7-151 Saris Ren. M. F. Fleet P.O. San Francisco Itou nia. The Schulz family has two sons Walter Kam and Alvin, both in the U Company.
New officers of Le Mars BPO Elks Number 228 were installed at a regular April meeting. Burton Dull was named Exalted Ruler with Dennis Lenihan as retiring ruler and George Schroen as retiring trustee. Burton Dull to represent the lodge at Grand Lodge in St. Louis in June. Gerald Hemphill named alternate delegate.
John Hart Jr. of Culligan Le Mars was presented with a five year service award by Culligan Inc on April 9 Harold Fowerhane president of Northbrook Hi Clro led the ceremony amid a 15006 mile Culligan executives tour of regional conventions The firm serves over 600000 families in 3000 communities with 3000 employees offering water treatment services including filtration rust control and taste odor management The weekend also included social visits and a number of medical and professional meetings in Iowa and Sioux City
