Fred A. Utech 85 of 450 1st Ave NE died Friday at Sacred Heart hospital after a fall at home. Funeral services are set for 2 30 p m Monday April 1 at St John United Church. Rev Harold Maxwell will officiate. Burial in Le Mars Memorial Cemetery under direction of Maurer's funeral home. He was born August 24 1877 in Flyin township and lived in the county most of his life. Survived by his wife Katharine Gross and several nieces and nephews. Preceded by his parents his first wife Minnie M Wilde Utech and 11 siblings. He was a member of St John United Church of Christ.

Grass Fire Threatens Buildings Near Le Mars Farm
Firemen from Merrill and Le Mars, aided by about 30 neighbors and passersby, battled a stubborn grass fire Thursday afternoon at the Kenneth Sorgdrager farm two miles west of Le Mars. The blaze began about 1:30 pm and spread from the G. G. Probst farm.

Driver Fined For Failure To Yield To Fire Truck
