Northwest Iowa viewers watched Friday morning as Mrs John F Deegan of Maurice failed to receive the famed crown and host of gifts on the nationally televised Queen for a Day. The taped show was produced in California after Christmas.
Marcus Vernon Trower is a son born January 25 to Mr and Mrs Vernon Trower. Marcus Cronin is a daughter born January 25 to Mr and Mrs Joseph Cronin. Both births recorded at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Harry Pausch of Le Mars was fined 19 in mayor s court for carrying a loaded and assembled gun in a vehicle on a public highway. Charge filed January 13 by Conservation Officer E F Newel.
Area clergy and Westmar College professors hold a Christology seminar with Plymouth county ministers. Sessions on campus, meetings set for Jan 28 Feb 4 and 11, feature lectures by Westmar President H H Kalas and study of Baillie’s God Was In Christ. Participants include many local ministers and college faculty from multiple denominations. An open house is planned for the new Knights of Columbus hall in February.
Airman Second Class Rogerl L Kloster of Le Mars is reassigned to a South Dakota Air National Guard unit in Sioux Falls after graduating from the Air Force clinical training course for aircraft navigation equipment mechanic at Keesler AFB. He is trained to operate repair and test electronic navigation gear and related equipment.
Farmers who grew corn grain sorghum or barley in 1959 or 1960 may sign up February 1 through March 22 for the voluntary 1963 feed grain program. The plan combines base acreages into a single feed grain base per farm and requires at least 20 percent diversion to conservation with price-support and loan provisions for participants.
Fred Emery Cooper 72 a Kingsley resident died Wednesday at Omaha Veterans hospital after a three week illness. Born October 19 1890 in Marshalltown he came to the Maville and Kingsley area as a boy. He married Violet F McKee in November 1922 and moved to Luton in 1943. He worked at the Sioux City Brick and Tile Co Sergeant Bluff for 16 years. Survivors include his widow two sons and three grandchildren. The body was taken to W Harry Christy funeral home in Morningside.
Henry Hansen of Wadena Minnesota died Tuesday after a two year illness. Born December 24 1887 in Sioux county he lived in Granville Remsen and Sioux County before moving to Wadena. Funeral Friday at Wadena Catholic church burial in Wadena. Survivors include his widow a brother Emil of Le Mars and sister Sister Donata O S F of Waterloo. Franz Schneider Le Mars and Fred Vanderham Ireton were reelected to the Producers Commission association board at the group s annual election attended by about 700 members at the Sioux City Municipal auditorium.
