Charles Raymond Janes born January 11, 1895 in Portland Oregon, died September 13 1918 in a fall at Caruthers Field Fort Worth Texas while serving as aviation instructor. He married Clyde Hovarter in 1917. He attended Francis Parker High School in Chicago and Dartmouth College, worked for Swift & Co., and served as a U S Army aviation officer. He was a member of Wellington Avenue Congregational Church Kappa Sigma Dartmouth and Masonic lodge. Funeral services held in Chicago on September 18 and a memorial in Montour on September 19. His remains were buried beside his mother in Montour Mepla Efill Cemetery.
