Le Grand team wins base ball pennant in Marshalltown
LeGrand ball club clinched the Marshall County Sunday School League pennant with a 10 to 1 win over Friends Sunday School in Marshalltown. Pitcher Mahlon Gaunt set a strikeout record with 19, while Ernest Mills hit a homer and drove in several runs. The team finished 13-1, with strong depth and solid batting throughout the season led by captain Truman Manship and manager R. L. Pemberton.

Auto Smash-Up At Lars Thompson Crossing Ends Disastrously
A loaded gravel truck and a car owned by Tama county farmer P. Y. Alden collided head on near Lars Thompson crossing.
