Paving Crew Moves East of LeGrand on Long-Delayed Road
Anderson & Empie lead a large paving operation southeast of town with twenty two truckmen and a materials plant near the crusher. Detours, dust, and water- bucket volunteers mark the busy scene as the second mile nears Dillon crossroads and the third mile was finished last Friday. The crew shifts from west to east and hopes to reopen the road closed almost a year.

Mixed with buzz saw ends Manship’s thumb
John Manship, while helping Cleo Leech operate a buzz saw last Friday, almost severed his left thumb when it contacted the spinning disc. He kept the severed part steady with his other hand until a doctor dressed the wound, and doctors say he should keep five fingers. The injury will limit his carpentry work but is not expected to end his trade.
