Marshalltown Mixer a Great Success
About fifteen LeGrandites accepted the invitation of the Marshalltown commercial club and attended the mixer at the YoOMSC Friday evening. The event ran smoothly with a large group of Marshalltown guests, speeches, and a plan to meet everyone. Local health and social notes followed, plus notices of residents’ illnesses and a forthcoming WCTU meeting on October 6.

Auto mix up on West Main street ends with upturned car
A Sunday accident on West Main street near the Friends church involved Marshalltown youths returning from the woods after squirrels. One car tried to pass, skidded, and tipped into a ditch. After rescuing rifles, the occupants crawled out, lifted the auto, and continued toward Marshalltown, unharmed but wiser.

Death Claims George Esmay in Fullerton
Obituary notes George Esmay, 66, long time Fullerton resident and former railroad night operator, died at his home on September 7. He leaves a wife, one son, four daughters, siblings, and many relatives. Funeral services were held at the Christian church with the Fullerton city band. Burial at Loma Vista cemetery. A heavy rain delayed paving and kept roads muddy. The Town river is running bank full.
