Le Grand Bas launches the Reporter after years without a local newspaper. J M Hockett W H Bickel M A Gettis E C Kerr A W Amald CB Adair J R Manship and J Ez Harvey lead the venture with a board chaired by Hockett and secretary Gettis. The paper aims to serve the town with official notices and ads while expanding print size and pages. Local notices include staff changes, ads, and community notes from LeGrand and area towns.

The Palmer College Athletics Association is formed. Pennants and coffee goods arrive at the college bookstore. Bible readings start each Tuesday at ten. Fall term enrollment is the largest in years. many rooms are rented. A new piano is placed in each music studio. Dorm boys attend oyster supper with Pres and Mrs Kerr and prayer meetings. Campus improvements include new cement walks. Basketball practice is active. Heryford, Missouri, enrolls for commercial work. Printing department aids with the Reporter’s first issue. About one hundred bushes of potatoes stored for boarding. Unused rooms are fitted for new students. Physical Culture class is the largest in years, with growing interest.

A LeGrand community drive for a church fund balanced by scales showing subscriptions. The event featured Rev G Ay De sHLER and an anthem by a choir. About 415 dollars raised quickly plus a 35.70 basket gift, totaling 430.70. Members and citizens donated generously.

Le Grand Concert Band Formed In Le Grand
A local effort organized a twenty seven member band with Omar Tos tenco and Max Mills on cornets and a full ensemble including clarinets, altos, trombone, bass, drums and more. C. L. Brown will conduct, with A A Richards as manager and P M Herbert as secretary treasurer. A concert is planned for November in Hamlet Hall to raise funds and boost the new group.
