He fainted in the operating room while throat was washed out. embolism suspected. Born May 22, 1891 in Tama county. survived by wife Hattie Sawyer and two children Rosaline and Roger Myron. Death of Jas R Macy Former LeGrand Resident

James R Macy died at his Bangor home Friday morning after months of declining health. He had recently returned from California where the climate did not aid his condition. He was born June 3, 1841 in Ohio, married Sue Plummer in 1877, and lived in LeGrand before moving to Bangor in 1886. He leaves three children William J Macy Mary Macy and Wade C Macy. Burial was in Bangor cemetery after a 3 PM service conducted by Rev N M Hodgin.

Auto crash injures Hines family in Marshalltown

Shocking street collision last Saturday in Marshalltown left Gretchen Hines age 13 with a double fracture of the lower jaw and a right forearm broken for Mrs. Floyd Hines of Montour, while Miss Virgil Haynes, 18, driving a touring car, lost control and plowed through a crowd on Main Street. Mrs. Hines and Gretchen, dragged and struck by the bumper, faced severe injuries as others escaped harm. The report notes infantile paralysis in Gretchen’s past and describes the driver as inexperienced, with lingering legal and medical concerns following the accident.

Pioneer Days recollections from early Iowa settlers

Bees Beekeeping Lecture At LeGrand Meeting

Beekeeping meeting led by F Eric Millen state apiarist will be held at the consolidated school in LeGrand on Wednesday evening June 4.
