Oliver Swenson's WWI Service Record Recalls Iowa to Overseas

Oliver Swenson entered the U S army July 24, 1918 in Marshalltown Iowa. He and companions traveled by M and St L to Camp Pike Arkansas spent weeks in a mule shed quartered shelter vaccination received no drill then moved to Camp Merritt New Jersey and boarded the U S S Ryndam for overseas. They reached St Nazaire France October 6 and after six weeks at Pont le Voy joined the 26th Yankee Division at Surrey January 25 1919. They marched to Brest and after six days at sea landed Boston where they received a homecoming. Numerous local notes follow about residents visitors and upcoming community events.
