New Railroad Safety Device Goes Into Operation
A new automatic speed control system on Chicago & Northwestern rails from Boone to Council Bluffs now operates, warning engineers with a yellow light and whistle as trains enter danger zones. If ignored, brakes engage automatically. a token system confirms both engineer and conductor know the device is active before motion.
