Grinnell Students Tour LeGrand Quarry Trip

Grinnell College students joined by Prof. Henry S. Conard and Prof. J. Alfred Adams spent a day touring quarries and woods north of LeGrand. They visited a Le Grand restaurant and the B. H. and A. L. Beane fossils collection before returning to campus.

Wedding at Friends church marks the union of Ruth Moore and Hubert Christensen

Sunday wedding photos show bride Ruth Elizabet Moore of West Branch and groom Hubert J. Christensen of Clemons after Rev. Lloyd Hinshaw joined them at the Friends church altar. The couple planned a wedding dinner at the bride’s parents home in West Branch. Calvin R. Gaunt, longtime Marshalltown carpenter and Republican, died April 29 after an 11 week illness following a stroke. He had served as justice of the peace, constable, and pro panet committeeman, and was active in Sons of Union Veterans and local lodges.

High School Outing and County Baseball Results

The senior class toured Cedar Rapids on skip day visiting Quaker Oats Wilsons Packing Plant WMT Station Coca Cola Bottling Works Pepsi Cola and Beaver Park. In athletics the baseball team beat Liscomb 4 1 with Rowlison earning the win, then lost 5 0 to Albion in the county final with Maxfield pitching a no hit no run game.
